Please introduce yourself briefly.

I am Maxim Janzen, 32 years old, and I have been with Geutebrück for ten years, including my apprenticeship. Before joining Lego, I completed my technical college entrance qualification in computer science with a focus on application development. I started with the apprenticeship as an application development specialist, which I successfully completed – otherwise, I wouldn't be here. I've been working on my state-certified IT technician qualification for four years now, which I hope to complete this year. At the beginning, I also took the opportunity to obtain my trainer's certificate.

What are your tasks in your current position?

I have been a frontend developer in the web sector for about five years. After my apprenticeship, I worked as a full stack developer for two years, where I worked in the backend and frontend. When I was offered the opportunity to switch to frontend, I gladly accepted because I realized that frontend work suits me better. Since then, I have become one of the frontend specialists here. As a training supervisor, I also support our apprentices, assist them with questions and new challenges sometimes provide training. However, most of the time, I work on developing new features or solutions.

Where do you see yourself heading in the future?

In addition to further training as a technician, I would like to switch to project management at some point and work as a product owner or product manager, where I can contribute my technical expertise. therwise, due to the daily variety of new and exciting topics in my current role, there isn't much else I feel the need to pursue, as the challenges provide enough diversity in my work routine.

What motivates you to come to work every day?

Well, first and foremost, we have a very specific field here that we can work in. I mean, video security technology and process data analysis are extremely exciting topics, and it's just enjoyable to work on them. Then there's also the company itself, with all the colleagues and this positive and pleasant dynamic – it's a lot of fun working with the people here. But my favorite project is my work as a trainer, that's what I enjoy the most. Getting something off the ground with the apprentice and supporting their development is a really rewarding aspect for me.

What makes Geutebrück special for you?

On the one hand, the exciting topics we get to work on here are not something you come across every day. Some of my acquaintances, including computer scientists, often talk about a very dull daily routine – they don't do anything interesting. That wouldn't be for me, because I need my challenges. Additionally, we have a very pleasant working atmosphere here, which makes it enjoyable to work.

How do you combine work, family, friends and leisure?

Due to my studies, I don't have much free time at the moment. Although I've found many good friends through the company with whom I also spend a lot of time privately, due to my completely structured week, means that I usually only have Sundays to do things. But hopefully, that will change soon. Thanks to our flexible working hours, I can integrate everything very well – it works very effectively in that regard.

How would your colleagues describe you?

I asked a few colleagues and the most common answers were: very patient, reliable and very persistent. I think it's great that they see it that way - one tends to be a bit more critical of oneself. But if they claim that, it must be true. Personally, I am a bit quieter and also more chaotic, so the structured working method we have here suits me very well.

What were your personal highlights at Geutebrück?

The company events, such as New Year's celebrations or the summer parties we've had, were always a lot of fun. Also, the activities within the departments outside of working hours were enjoyable. Overall, receiving positive feedback from the client after completing a project is always a really nice motivator.

If you were managing director, would you change anything?

Basically, nothing, as we have already implemented a lot of changes in the company, such as new working methods, departmental restructuring, or the renovation of the company building. So, a lot has already been positively changed, and I wouldn't know what could be adjusted at the moment.
